…..is never lost. Picture courtesy of John J. Rigo copyrighted 2013
A ship in the sea of life
riding each wave of life
seeking the warm sun of each day.
The beauty of each dream as night falls
is never lost as it heads
toward the curve of each horizon.
Storms will blow
onward do we flow
in love and courage
by His hand.
Tomorrow brings the knowing in His love
the vastness of the ocean
is not so alone.
As long as we believe
we will never be alone.
For His love
surpasses all of this.
This and time beyond
this brief sea of life.

A heart is a terrible thing to waste.
If one comes to you with this offering
do not scoff too quickly.
Love is a precious gift.
It is precious to the one who gives love
and very precious to the one who receives it.
Do not be hardened to this gift.
Accept this gift with kindness
and tenderness.
Love is the joy of life.
Love is the light of life.
Love is the soul of life.
Be thankful and gentle
in the receiving of love
even if this love
is not the love you seek.
Remember one day
you will be judged as a human.
You will be judged to the degree that you loved.
More importantly
how kindly you received love.
Love in its many forms
is God showing
His face to us.
A heart is a terrible thing to waste.

“Many times we must find and then lose Love to really appreciate it when finally finding it……. again.” quote John J. Rigo
Embrace your Youth.
The ticks of time move more quickly
than observed or counted.
Embrace the Love of your Youth.
The embers lose their warmth and glow
more quickly than our memories will capture.
Embrace the Wisdom
that is bestowed upon you.
It will carry you
through the dark days
before you.
Curse not your regrets.
They are but markers along the road.
Regrets render the opportunity
to seek forgiveness.
Embrace your Lord
with Love and Worship.
He will Bless you along the road
and to the final place
of His Love for you.

A Sunrise each morning reminds me of all the blessings the Lord has rendered me.
It is the quest of a man
to find out who he truly is.
My journey has been long
and difficult.
I found love many times.
I lost love many times.
Joy and pain were always
the same.
The truth is
we will take nothing with us.
Our flesh quickly becoming
the dust of dunes.
I ask forgiveness
to all that I might have hurt
in my journey.
I can only hope
that somehow along the way
by example and deed
I have helped others
in their own journey’s.
I like you struggled
each day in trying to overcome
the weaknesses of being a human.
In remembering me.
Read my words.
Walk briefly in my shoes.
Known that
I finally found
myself.

Thru Seventy years of life on this world
there has been a few lessons of life
that were difficult to learn
Knowing the difference
between true friendships and Fair Weather Friends
was one of the hardest lessons of all.
In discovering that vast difference in friendships
I believe we live in a form of self-denial
in realizing the differences.
I am now painfully aware
that the best friends I ever had
are now long dead.
Thank you Lord
for being to me
the friend that no other is.
As my Father once related to me
“One could live a lifetime and be able to count
the true friends they would have had
on one hand.”
I have been blessed in my lifetime
to have had two of those real friends
with now my Lord
as my constant Third.

The sad news of the Death of Robin Williams, picture courtesy of Google Image Search
Commentary: It is with deep sadness that I heard today of the self-inflicted death of Robin Williams. My deepest condolences to the close friends and family of Robin.
Even with a century of research into the causes of depression, it still stands as an incurable sickness of the mind. A sickness beyond human understanding. A treatment program that in most cases stands in the stone age, with many times shock treatments destroying parts of a human’s mind.
When depression moves past simple “blues” into the realm of prolonged depression, it goes beyond “bootstrap speeches” and enters the area of a chemical imbalance of the brain, that in most cases takes years to cure. It is my belief, one is never cured but learns to finally accept the task of overcoming darkness, a daily battle. A battle only won with the help of the Lord.
“Yea through the Grace of God Go I” copyright 2005, Published Poetry Book, “Roses Amidst Thorns”
I have been where you are
a hell of loneliness and despair.
Had I created this place in my past
as you are now
where I was once?
I ask myself what pains cross your mind
as this day of many comes to you?
Do you hunger?
Are you without sleep?
The night only brings fear for your life.
Are you without anyone who cares
where you are this day?
Are you missed?
I too have been where you are.
From ashes of the mind did thou raise me
from a pit of worldly hell.
It was not my talents of mind
nor spirit that lead me from this dark world.
It was my prayers.
You never failed to hear me
when I cried out to you.
When I tried to end this life
you spoke gently to me
asking me to be patient
and wait one more day.
One day lead to another.
Finally the sun began to shine again
in your blessings and your love for me.
Thank you Lord
for giving hope to the hopeless
as you gave to me.
Thank you Lord
for loving me when I was without love.
Yea Lord without your grace
would I now be lost.

The parks of Savannah, Georgia that we use to walk back in 1960. Picture courtesy of Google image search.
There are times
the sadness just rolls over my chest.
Crushing ocean waves upon my heart.
Memories of you return.
A first love never dies.
Innocence in love’s discovery
of another.
Pure linen wash were we.
Time is a cruel thing.
Relentless in its forward movement.
Removing the taste of the moment
quickly from our lips.
Life was uncomplicated then.
Two lovers walking hand and hand
to a Walgreen’s breakfast for $1,98 each
after church in downtown Savannah.
The year was 1960
a young man of 18 was I
while you a newly 18
off a recent bus from Happy, Texas.
A story book love story
did we own in our shared love.
A first love never dies
but wings through eternity.
