“One of my favorite pictures off the internet.”

My schedule has been so busy lately in the major remodeling of a farm-house that will be the future home of a vineyard and winery in East Texas.  Time is getting away from me in my desire to thank each and every one of my new followers to my poetry and commentary site.  To have such a large surge in followers in a matter of days is a huge blessing to me.  It is my hope you all will find within the contents of my work a further connection with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Blessings in your journey’s to each and every one of you.

Walk tenderly on my dreams
for my dreams are me
with my soul exposed.

Judge not
the worth of my hopes
nor the possibility of their reality.

If you are without encouraging words
then seal your lips in speaking of my dreams.

Are we not without hope
when stripped of our dreams and aspirations?

Look to yourself and ask
when were your own dreams scattered against
the rocks of time?

Take not your anger
with yourself
against those
who still have hope.

At times it would be nice
to have a pair of magic red shoes.
Just clicking them together three times
would do the trick.

Suddenly I would be transported
to wherever my mind of memory
would wish to go.

At this very moment
I could easily think of a dozen places
I would love to be at this moment.

Each time frame
would place me at a time and place
where I felt greatly loved.

Where there was a skip in my step
and a constant grin on my face.
I can easily bring to mind
scenes of such places in my past.

Skipping through a mall with her
like a school child.
Dancing with her
for the first time
with my arm around her waist.

Ah yes then their were those
first kisses
always soft
always remembered
always joyful
in the way those kisses went to my toes.

Truthly knowing what I know now
would I have taken more time
to savor every moment.

Time in remembering every detail
of the places of my youth
where my magic red shoes
would have taken my heart.

Seek not confirmation of your dreams.
Seeking others to confirm your dreams
will only find you alone in confirmation.

Believe in your dreams.
Your dreams need no confirmation.
Your dreams are yours alone
a gift of Love from your Lord.

Treasure them.
Hold them close.
For the goal
of their reality
is just before you.

As I approach the twilight time of my life
the answer has come to an important question.

The question deals with the pain, the suffering, the depression
that we all must deal with
in our elder years.

Why should our minds
or our physical bodies deteriorate in such a way?

In tearful recall of our youth
is that all we are left with?

I thought of Jesus
my Lord and Savior
I thought of His suffering before His death.

There is much about this world that can bring
happiness and blessings.
There are many things that our physical bodies
wish not to depart from in this world.

Whether it be the beauty created by our God
or the love connections
that are so important to us.

Could our suffering be but a gift from our Lord?
A way to make the release easier from this physical world?

Perhaps in the suffering is the blessing
in knowing we are going to
a far happier place in our eternity.

A Dream of Retirement...finally Fulfilled.

A Dream of Retirement…finally Fulfilled.

It has been a tough closing for the prior year of 2012, as well as the beginning of 2013.  My wife and I retired from our insurance agency of 28 years at the end of 2012.  Our customers were more than dollar signs to us in earning a living…….they were family to us.  With many over a period of two months, did my wife and I share many tears of departure from our business relationship of so many years.  Removing all the signs of what was once our State Farm Insurance agency was equally difficult from the face of our owned commercial building on McDonald Street in McKinney, Texas.

The first day of the new year of 2013 we horribly lost to a defective Electrolux electric stove, two of our most previous processions, our two McGraw parrots of 24 and 17 years respectfully in Mickey and Minnie. Each day that goes by we both grieve at their loss.

At the end of December of 2012 we closed on a 29 acre farm in East Texas.  The sale and purchase closed a two-year search for the perfect property for our soon to be farm and winery in East Texas, and additionally will soon become our final primary retirement home.

As of yesterday after many weeks of brain storming and a week’s trip to UC of Davis in California to taking courses in starting a vineyard, I have created and posted the beginning of our Dream fulfillment on WordPress with another new blog that will render consistent postings on our progress in starting what we feel will be one of the finest vineyards, farms and winery’s in East Texas.

If you ever thought of having a small farm yourself or better yet have a vineyard of your own, check out our blog: http://silverstarwineryoftexas.com
