We often run from ourselves.
We seek change from where we were.
We then find that our lives became a circle.

A new love
is the image
of the old love.

The new neighborhood
has the same uncaring neighbors
of the old neighborhood.

It is then we discover
we have only been running
from ourselves.

True change in life
in finding happiness begins
when we find Christ.

I remember a young woman I dated over forty-five years ago.
She was a consigliere for a major hotel on Stemmons.
Sex with her was like making love in a movie.

She would cover her body with baby oil
before getting on top of me.
She had one of the most beautiful bodies
I had ever seen on a woman.

Her body glistened as she moved on top of me.
Perhaps it was the way she titled her head upward
as her eyes rolled over in squeezing my organ tightly.
Ah…those days of pure sex.
There never be days and nights
like that again.

Stained glass at St John the Baptist's Anglica...

Stained glass at St John the Baptist’s Anglican Church http://www.stjohnsashfield.org.au, Ashfield, New South Wales. Illustrates Jesus’ description of himself “I am the Good Shepherd” (from the Gospel of John, chapter 10, verse 11). This version of the image shows the detail of his face. The memorial window is also captioned: “To the Glory of God and in Loving Memory of William Wright. Died 6th November, 1932. Aged 70 Yrs.” (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I have been blessed by being loved by many woman.
The love I shared came over a lifetime of seventy plus years.
Each of these loves brought an aspect of God to my heart.

As a man I grew with each experience of being in Love.
Each were comforting fires on cold nights of my life.
Each experience brought me closer to the truth of life.

I now know that upon my death
I will rejoin the ultimate love of my life.
That Love will be Jesus Christ
Lord and Savior of my life.

If in your own life
you should be blessed in being loved by another
treat that love with the gentle hand of kindness.

Be not unkind toward love or resentful of love
but thankful each day that love is given to you.
Love is but the gentle breath of God upon your soul.

I have been in this place in my life. It was not until my Lord brough my wife, Linda to me, that I finally experienced true and real love from another. All others in my life that claimed to have loved me….faded away.

It was the weight of a huge boulder upon my heart
crushing the very soul of my spirit from my body.
It was the realization that I was not loved.

Without Love in our lives
we are just walking pieces of flesh
without joy
without laughter
without peace.

my mind reached back
to memories of when I was loved.
Wrapped in these thoughts
I was able to regain my breath
I pulled death away from my body.

I will await another day
with a joy of anticipation
that my future bride
awaits me
in the future
before me.

This hope gives me
strength to face
another day
without the love
I so desperately need
in my life.

I am very thankful to my Lord this Day. Thankful for the protection He has rendered my life. Thankful for the Wisdom He has brought me in spite of my subborn refusal of such at times. Thankful for the many beautiful friendships He has brought me from the most unexpected places in my life. Thank you Lord for this day and the opportunity to praise thy Name.

When such pain goes beyond

metal against metal

pushing and tearing

beyond the tolerances of strength.

Truly oh what passion

lies within thee

when finding release again

in one who will truly love you again

in the truth of their spirit and heart.

Heart be still

mind be of strength

love awaits.

This time to carry you beyond

the eternal doors of joy and happiness.

In a conversation with a dear friend recently I related these words to them as inspiration for their life. It is words that should be whispered in our inner minds and heart each moment of each day.

John J. Rigo, Texas' Poet and Commentator's avatarTexas Poetry

It is time to reflect on your life.
So you feel you have done a good job of being in control?
Did you ever believe that God had a plan for your life?

Were you too busy, too self-absorbed, too important
to listen to God’s whispers in your ear?

In comparing time in its length
which do you think is longer
eternity or the length of your own lifespan?

Has the thought ever entered your mind
that your Creator is not pleased with you?

Do you think today
would be a great day to change your life?

Are you ready today
to Let Go and Let God be in charge?

With advancing age, somedays seem beautiful while others deeply sad. This day has been one of those very sad days for me.

John J. Rigo, Texas' Poet and Commentator's avatarTexas Poetry

They call insight…. Wisdom.
Wisdom is the deep sadness of old age.
A biting reality that was
but will never be again.

We become ever grateful for the pressed hug.
The feel of flesh upon our own.
Memories sparked in an unexpected
full body hug of total surrender.

Our minds go back.
Youth with aches or pains unexpected
as now that wake with us
each morning.

A crying desire within
of the youthful, carefree loving
of many hours
stretched over days.

These moments
will never be ours again.
It’s the sadness that takes us out.

Chipping away
at our nightly desire
to waken again.

And if we are so blessed
a dream of softness and passion
from long ago.

A dream that brings a cry of joy
from our very soul
of those days and moments
that will never be ours…

A beautifully rendered poem that relates many of my emotions this day.

The Future Doesn’t Promise Anyone…

Looking across the horizon,
I wonder why the life seems…
So beautiful and great.
It changes so quick and fast…

One of the sadest parts of advancing age is that many who we feel are friends are truly faithless in their friendships. Realizing that we must let go of those who are not sincere of heart is always tough for me but necessary for my own peace and happiness. I feel this poem explains those emotions in a very clear way.

John J. Rigo, Texas' Poet and Commentator's avatarTexas Poetry

Life has many lessons to teach us.

Among these is finding the greatest of joys of life.

When we look to others to bring us that joy

we will always find disappointment with our lives.

The light of true happiness is within our own selves.

It is shared and nurtured by only one Being

and that is our Lord and Savior.

Do not look to your fair weather friends

or those who claim to love you.

They will only bring you sadness and disappointment.

Perfection in Love and Friendship is only found in God.

Seek Him, Love Him, and Worship Him each day  of your life.

In so doing will you finally find

the joys of eternity

that are just before you.
