A bright blue sky day.
Water with a spray of diamonds.
Rays of warmth upon my face.
You at my side
with that special smile
that I love above all expressions
that pass over your face each day.
Let us hold this close to us
in what seems not enough time for
just the two of us.
Cherish this day
love this day
with all we have.
For we will never know
how many
if any
of these days are before us.
We have each other
with our love for one another.
What could be worth
more than just this day?

One day
We will walk the path of light.
Unsure if our Lord will be pleased with us.
Will we be met with an embrace of Love
or will we see disappointment in the Face of our Saviour?
Least we forget the gifts of our Lord.
Will we be judged
on how we shared His gifts?

…..is never lost. Picture courtesy of John J. Rigo copyrighted 2013
A ship in the sea of life
riding each wave of life
seeking the warm sun of each day.
The beauty of each dream as night falls
is never lost as it heads
toward the curve of each horizon.
Storms will blow
onward do we flow
in love and courage
by His hand.
Tomorrow brings the knowing in His love
the vastness of the ocean
is not so alone.
As long as we believe
we will never be alone.
For His love
surpasses all of this.
This and time beyond
this brief sea of life.

The sand is pushed aside
as my feet are placed upon the landscape.
My footprints quickly disappear
as I move forward in my quest.
Blowing winds leave the mark of my path
but for a second
a mark of passing that becomes neither
a longing memory
or a recall by the passing landscape.
Are we too
a grain of sand
lost to a moment of time?

One of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves
is to learn to love ourselves.
In loving ourselves
we realize that the premise that we must love another
such as ourselves is not part of the growth
that is part of our eternity.
In loving ourselves
we are no longer open to the qualities of others
in their own personal failures in loving themselves.
In this way
in the path of eternity
that we all walk
all those we will met
will then be complete unto themselves
as we have also become.

Commentary on poem dated February 9th, 2014: The wonderful part of poetry, to my way of thinking is that in looking back at a previous work of my own, I can see more meaning in the content of the work. On this poem, it deals with our own outlook on life and how it changes constantly. In my case, it is how we all live in a state of denial when it comes to relationships. Many times we attempt to make them “more than they really are in their individual worth and value to us personally.” Only by moving forward in life with a more open mind, do we find many who claim to love us and care about us, really are being dishonest with us, as we are dishonest with ourselves in how we perceive them.
A singular line horizontally drawn.
Above a blue sky.
Below
a deep ocean of blue.
Is it the end of the world
or the beginning of another?
Standing still
there is no answer.
Only by moving forward
do we realize there is more
beyond a singular line.
Attitude?
Perspective?
Are they not one
and the same?

“Changing Hollywood, one film at a time” commentary by John J. Rigo. Image courtesy of Google image search.
We will not be seeing this George Clooney film, as we see none of the movies Mr. Clooney stars in. The reason why is simple enough, he is and was a big supporter of President Obama. I hear your laughter and your thoughts, “Why all of Hollywood is that way” would be your thought. Our answer, “That is why we go to very few movies.”

Lately I have noticed more than ever
how often people use the words
“I Love You” more carelessly.
Simply sharing the words
in their minds makes them
feel good about themselves.
The words themselves should carry
more meaning in speaking them
than the reality of the real emotions
of the speaker.
When relating those words to another
it should also mean that “I am loyal to you.”
The words should relate that “I would never
say anything out of your presence about you,
that would be hurtful if said it to your face.”
Friendships should not be about gain
of one from another.
Friendships should be about
an “Honest” sharing of Love.
So on this day
of the few allotted to us
think carefully become using
the words “I Love You” to a friend.
The question here is
“Are you also worthy of Love?”

February 2nd, 2014: In watching the Superbowl this evening thoughts of Elvis doing the half-time came to mind amidst the mindless noise of the half-time show. Memories of seeing him in the seventies in Dallas came to mind. To this day, that was an experience close to my heart. Elvis, I miss you.

It seems just like yesterday that Elis died.
In all the years that have passed since that sad day
he is still in my heart.
His passion
his being
his songs spoke of my own feelings.
You see
I grew up with him.
I remember being blessed in seeing him in person.
It was Dallas 1975.
I had a tenth row seat.
I could see the sweat on his forehead.
For months afterward
I had dreams of that time
I got to spend with him.
There will never be another Elvis.
